Title:                          Administrative Assistant, The Daily Signal

Reports to:             President and Executive Editor, The Daily Signal

Job Summary:        The Administrative Assistant provides administrative and operational support to The Daily Signal’s leadership team. This role helps keep office operations running smoothly, manages calendars, travel, meetings, invoices and expenses, coordinates guest booking and logistics, supports onboarding and intern coordination, and keeps critical newsroom processes, records, and tools organized and current. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and thrives in a fast-paced media environment. This is a full-time, temporary position.

Job Duties:

  • Provide scheduling and operational support to the president, including managing calendars, arranging transportation, lodging and on-site logistics for travel, and coordinating internal/external meetings, interviews, and briefings..
  • Prepare agendas, briefing materials, and follow-up notes for team retreats, strategy meetings, and tactical check-ins.
  • Process expense reports, invoices, and reimbursements, working with Accounting to ensure timely coding and approvals.
  • Coordinate onboarding for new hires and interns (accounts, equipment, workspace, checklists, team intros); schedule training sessions with appropriate editorial staff.
  • Assist with intern scheduling, tasking, and routine supervision in partnership with editorial leads.
  • Field inbound inquiries (general inbox and phone), route requests, and provide timely, professional responses.
  • Coordinate cross‑enterprise logistics as needed for events, releases, and special projects.

Qualifications:

Education:                   Bachelor’s degree preferred

Experience:                 Some experience in administrative, editorial-operations, production, or project coordination roles; media/newsroom experience a plus

Communication:         Excellent verbal and written communication; polished professionalism with guests and partners

Technology:                Microsoft Suite, WordPress, Adobe Suite

  • Understand and support the mission, vision, and editorial standards of The Daily Signal; uphold the team’s principles and practices.
  • Strong attention to detail; highly organized; able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Discretion and maturity when handling confidential information, guests, and sensitive editorial plans.
  • Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with teams large and small; receptive to feedback and able to give clear direction to interns.
  • Willingness to work the hours required to support news production and time‑sensitive publishing.

 

Benefits and Salary:

The salary for this role is $55,000 annually. As a temporary position, this role is eligible for some of The Daily Signal Institute’s benefits package, including "take what you need" PTO and sick leave.
